Nonresistance opens the door to Freedom

Nonresistance is the sacred tool that opens the door to freedom. When we are in the midst of a challenging situation, when things do not turn out the way we planned, when the world seems to betray us, the most powerful thing we can do is get out of the way and open the door for God to work through and as us.

In times of stress, I remember Jesus’ Gethsemane experience and his complete surrender to the will of God, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done” (Luke 22:42). Then, I am able to relax into the truth of my being, my divine self, and  know that I am never alone. Nothing can touch or betray my Spirit. Centered in Spirit I find a peace and clarity of mind that guides me to move in the world without fear.  I affirm that things are always working out for the highest good of all.

Lent is a wonderful time to recognize our divinity and trust that divine intelligence is always present. The entire universe is always conspiring for us to awaken to a greater dimension of life, ever-present.

Nonresistance Lent Practice:

Pray and Meditate on Luke 22:42

Consciously focus on breathing a few times, bringing the attention to the heart space. Then repeat a few times until you feel you have surrendered to God: “Not my will but yours be done.”
